No Cane’s Nearby? Don’t Worry, Just Head Straight to Your Kitchen.

Craving Raising Cane’s but stuck over three hours away from the nearest location? As a college girl who’s constantly seeking comfort food, I totally get it. There’s nothing quite like that signature Cane’s sauce to complete your meal, and sometimes, you just need it right NOW. After some trial and error in my own kitchen, I’ve finally nailed down a homemade recipe that I think is spot-on. Along with the sauce, I've also found an amazing recipe for that juicy, tender chicken as well. Here’s how you can bring that amazing taste of Cane’s right to your kitchen, no road trip needed!

Raising cane’s sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Mayo
  • 3/4 cup Ketchup
  • 1.5 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl and stir.
  2. Chill in fridge for at least 1 hour or more.

Tip: The most important thing to making the sauce is to let it chill. All of the ingredients need to chill mixed together to taste right!

The Chicken

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 - 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, sliced in strips
  • 2 cups Buttermilk
  • 1.5 tbsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1.5 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1.5 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1.5 cups Traditional Breadcrumbs
  • Oil, for frying

Directions

  1. In a large zip lock bag, add 1 cup buttermilk and 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning. Add chicken into bag to marinate for 3 hours or overnight.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and breadcrumbs. In another bowl, combine remaining buttermilk and 1/2 tablespoon cajun seasoning.
  3. Remove chicken onto plate and discard bag.
  4. Coat chicken in dry mixture first, then transfer to buttermilk mixture, and re-coat in dry mixture last. Place chicken on a wire rack for about 5 minutes to let breading dry on to chicken.
  5. Meanwhile, heat oil in a frying pan. Then, drop chicken in and fry each side for about 4 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Transfer to paper towel lined plate and serve!

Reminder: Chicken should be cooked to 165°F.
